International students in Canada may be eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). This work permit authorizes recent international students to remain and stay in Canada after completing their studies. This an open work permit, meaning that they can work for any employer and in any location. Unlike most of the Canadian work permits, Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) does not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for successful applicants. It also enables many recent graduates to gain valuable Canadian work experience. With enough work experience in Canada, many foreign nationals become eligible for Canada’s permanent residency programs.
